Dia de los Ninos
The day of the Child has grown to become an annual celebration throughout Mexico. During this day the adults in the community recognize children & the child's importance in society. Adults endorse the younger peoples well being. Adults honor children in their community and throughout the world.
During the week of Dia de los Ninos we cooked with our students. We played games. We planned a fiesta. We visited with our families.
We promoted independence. We encouraged the students to tell us about the many things that they can do on their own.
"I can put my own shoes on."
"I can help my mom bring the groceries in the house."
"I can get my own food."
"I can cook."
"I can jump on the couch."
"I can ride a bike without training wheels."
"I can go on a train."
Together we prepared for our fiesta.
